Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is the city's most famous son.  He was born on  August 28, 1749 in a house on the Greater Hirschgraben, and lived in Frankfurt until he was a young man.  His birth house was was nearly completely destroyed during the Second World War, but was rebuilt after the war true to its original design, perhaps the only building in the city to be so carefully reconstructed.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ist der ber�hmteste Sohn der Stadt. Er wurde am 28. August 1749 im Gro�en Hirschgraben geboren und lebte in Frankfurt bis er ein junger Mann war. Sein Geburtshaus wurde im II. Weltkrieg fast v�llig zerst�rt. Nach dem Krieg wurde es originalgetreu wieder aufgebaut. Vielleicht ist es das am sorgf�ltigsten rekonstruierte Geb�ude in der Stadt.
